A Summer of Giving to Some Very Worthwhile Local Causes

Windermere and Ambleside Lions Club have recently been distributing some of the funds raised over the summer months.

A donation of £250.00 was made to the Birchall Trust and a similar amount to the Tarn Hill Trust that looks after the children’s playground at Sawrey.

Freedom Wizard, a charity running special all terrain mobility scooters benefitted with £500.00 as did Alice’s Escapes who provide holidays for terminally ill children.

The main donations were from the proceeds of the Lakes Classic Vehicle Show held at Grasmere in June. On a visit to the Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team base by Lion President Philip Fell and other Lion members cheques for £4000.00 each were presented to Nick Owen, leader of the LAMRT and to Michael Lafferty the chairman of Blood Bikes Cumbria. Further smaller donations have been made to local charities.
