Community Appeal for Hawkshead Residents and Tourists Stranded in the Snow

This is a local community appeal. Following the heavy downfall of snow in Cumbria yesterday, many members of the local public and tourists visiting the Hawkshead Christmas Fair were stranded in Hawkshad overnight, and remain there now. The Hawkshead Esthwaite Primary School kindly opened their doors to over 200 people for warmth and to stay the night, and the Windermere & Ambleside Lions Club has funded hot meals (fish and chips) for everyone. The roads in and out of Hawkshead remain closed, and so people remain stranded. Please contact us using a private message on Facebook, email secretary@lakeslions.co.uk, or by contacting our treasurer Philip Fell on 07580 045719, if you would like to make a dontion to help. Any donation received will be split 50/50 between the Lions Club and…

Lakes Charity Classic Vehicle Show 2022 – Event Cancellation Notice

Welcome to everyone who has supported our CHARITY CLASSIC VEHICLE SHOW. Much to our disappointment, and no doubt to you, the covid pandemic curtailed our show for 2020 & 2021. As I hope you will appreciate, staging the event takes months of planning and, given the uncertainty for this year, we have sadly made the decision to cancel the show again for 2022. Windermere and Ambleside Lions Clubs Classic Vehicle Show has, since its inception in 2012, managed to raise many thousands of pounds for local and national charities. This has only been possible due to the fantastic support of vehicle exhibitors, trade stand operators and our sponsors for which we thank each and every one of you. Windermere and Ambleside Lions Club are committed to staging the show again…
