The Windermere & Ambleside Lions Club is as busy as ever this Christmas involved in the local festive events and celebrations. We have lots of events that we are involved in at this very special time of year, including: Assisting with marshaling duties at the Windermere & Ambleside Christmas Lights switch on events - which were absolutely fantastic Delivering Logs to the elderly residents of Windermere, Staveley and Ambleside - to make sure they can keep warm this winter We are arranging a 'Spirit of Christmas' Event for the elderly at the Low Wood Resort and Spa on 14th December 2017 We have a stall at the upcoming Windermere Christmas Celebration on 9th and 10th December - which was a fantastic and entertaining fundraising event for us last year, and…

Lions Club at the Windermere Christmas Celebration (Market) – 9th and 10th December 2017

We are looking forward once again to taking part in the Windermere Christmas Celebration on the 9th and 10th December 2017 - and raising lots of money for local charitable causes. Come and visit our stall to take part in games and win some great prizes that have been donated to us by some amazing local organisations including The Windermere Hotel, Blackwell, Abbott Hall, Windermere Lake Cruises, Brantwood, Sizergh Castle, Friars of Keswick, Hawkshead Relish, Bath House, Lamplighter, Watermill Inn, Low Sizergh Barn, English Lakes Hotels, Hawkshead Brewery and Pure Lakes Skin Care ! and thats just the prizes so far! The 2017 Jingle Bell Jog is taking place on 17th December 2017 - and is now open for entries www.lakeslions.co.uk Let’s paint the town red, green and white and kick off the festive season by getting the whole family dressed up as Santa’s, Elves, Reindeer, Christmas Puddings, Snowmen, Fairies – or anything Christmassy – and Stumble, Walk, Jog or Run around a flat and scenic course in Bowness on the shores of Lake Windermere! A Summer of Giving to Some Very Worthwhile Local Causes

Windermere and Ambleside Lions Club have recently been distributing some of the funds raised over the summer months. A donation of £250.00 was made to the Birchall Trust and a similar amount to the Tarn Hill Trust that looks after the children’s playground at Sawrey. Freedom Wizard, a charity running special all terrain mobility scooters benefitted with £500.00 as did Alice’s Escapes who provide holidays for terminally ill children. The main donations were from the proceeds of the Lakes Classic Vehicle Show held at Grasmere in June. On a visit to the Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team base by Lion President Philip Fell and other Lion members cheques for £4000.00 each were presented to Nick Owen, leader of the LAMRT and to Michael Lafferty the chairman of Blood Bikes Cumbria.…
